We welcome new Sweet Adeline International Chorus Coachella Acappella to the Region 21 family. The chorus is made up of enthusiastic singers from around the Coachella Valley and sings under the direction of Alan Scott. As the chartering progressed over the past couple of years, chorus members have been seen frequently at Region 21 functions. The chorus has members with experience in the organization through other chapters and those members are mentoring new Sweet Adelines in the area.
Director, Alan Scott, has deep Barbershop roots. His mother and father were both singers and he directed his first chorus at the age of 16. Alan founded the Coachella Acappella Chorus in 2019 and has worked diligently to build membership toward the successful charter.
They are doing Young Women and Harmony outreach in the community as well and sponsored the youth quartet High Octane in the 2023 Stars of the West Contest.
Here is an update from Team Leader, Sherri North. "Our recent highlight was our performance at Agua Caliente Cascade Lounge in Palm Springs on June 21. It was a great success, and they’ve invited us back to do a holiday show there in December! We spent time after that finalizing the chartering documents and are taking our summer hiatus for the month of July. We are excited to resume rehearsals on Aug 1. We have a guest night planned for August, as well! We are also working on plans for a Charter Party and will announce that as soon as it’s ready!"
The chorus rehearses every Tuesday (except the month of July) from 6:30 to 9:00 pm in the Rancho Mirage High School Choir Room, 31001 Rattler Rd, Rancho Mirage, CA 92270. Prospective members can contact them at membership@coachellaacappella.org.
