On Saturday, February 3rd, the Harborlites Chorus will host its 17th annual Diva Day music festival at the Robert B. Moore Theater on the campus of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. We will welcome over 163 students from 14 different high schools throughout southern California for a full day of barbershop immersion, culminating in an “Afternoon Showcase” for friends, family, and the general public. The showcase is free of charge. Donations to support youth education will be accepted.
Harborlites has always prided itself in the selection of the best barbershop leaders to facilitate the festival and this year is no exception. Guest Clinician, Melody Hine, will teach the art of barbershop performance, lead choreography sessions, and direct the “Divas” at the “Afternoon Showcase.” Melody also arranged two of the festival songs that the students have learned.
In addition to the Diva Day chorus, Region 21 chapter quartets will have the opportunity to perform and gain valuable “rug time” prior to their upcoming competitions. Harborlites Chorus will also perform a short set and will join the Diva Day chorus for a combined finale song.
It is sure to be a wonderful show and we’d love to have you there to cheer on the students as they showcase four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style.
