Singing in a Performance or Competitive Quartet
Quartet singing is a foundational and celebrated aspect of singing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. Quartetting helps fast-track musical development, ensemble singing and stage presence. Quartets range from casual to competitive, encompassing a broad range of musical styles. Vocal matching is a foundational element of every great quartet in respect to vocal range, transitions, and timbre. Competitive Quartets must register with Sweet Adelines International and their respective region. Quartets may compete annually at the regional level and internationally on a two year cycle. International Quartet Champions are designated as Queens of Harmony and receive a custom designed coronet. Sweet Adelines International and respective regions host annual workshops and musical education events specifically to support quartets.
